Our Mission

Universal Gymnastics was developed with the purpose of providing all boys and girls, regardless of age, financial, mental or physical ability, the opportunity to experience the joy and benefits of gymnastics while becoming part of our family of athletes. Our staff is commited to:

•    An organized program that focus on the development of athletes and competitive gymnasts, beginning with pre-school classes, with the opportunity for advancement to team programs through which young athletes may ultimately gain national, international and Olympic recognition.
•    An environment to experience the importance of mental and physical fitness, including strength, balance, flexibility and coordination, self confidence and the value of a disciplined training regimen that enhances any athletic endeavor.
•    A learning experience with emphasis on the values of responsibility, competitiveness, dedication and goal setting, which can be retained throughout adulthood.
•    The resources to aid young gymnasts striving to be a member of the USA National Gymnastics team, the Olympic Team, a college scholarship or simply valuable self-esteem.

Our Coaches
USAG: Meet Coach Yin Alvarez
Universal Gymnastics opened in 1995 with the intent of training internationally competitive gymnasts.

Yin Eloy Alvarez is a professional gymnastics coach who opened Universal Gymnastics located in Miami, Florida in 1995.  His teams have been built from the ground up and in a short time they have become the teams to beat at the state, regional and national competitions. Alvarez created an environment of excellence, where all children are welcomed to learn the skills of a gymnast. His excellent coaches at Universal Gymnastics are all safety certified.

Our coaches are the driving force behind the success of the Universal Gymnastics competitive teams, Their enthusiasm, commitment to excellence and genuine love for the children they coach is the foundation upon which our award-winning teams have been built. Yin Eloy Alvarez and Maria Gonzalez, our head coaches, grew up in the sport. Both attended the National School of Gymnastics in Havana, Cuba and competed internationally as members of the Cuban National Team.

COORDINATION

Gymnastics instruction helps develop better coordination and body movement. For the young child, a great deal of their self confidence comes from how coordinated they are because their "world" is so physical rather than mental. Gymnastics improves Coordination!

SELF CONFIDENCE

Through the challenge of learning gymnastics skills, the students gain confidence with each step that they take. Doing skills on the beam and bars help them gain confidence in their own abilities. This improved self confidence will transfer to other areas of their lives including school.
Discipline
Especially for the young ones, gymnastics gives the little ones a weekly chance to learn about social skills like listening, following directions, taking turns, being quiet, respecting others, and lots more.
