Level 2/3 and 5/6 State Championships


CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL GYMNASTS L2/3 and 5/6 AND COACHES for an awesome joB at STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS . GO UNIVERSAL!!
November 21-22,2009.Tampa, Florida.L2/3 and L5/6 State Championships concluded. Universal Gymnastics girls and coaches shined again. In Level 2 Jazmine Estape became State Champion in her age group and alse finished with the highest score in all age groups. Jazmine Estape was followed by her teammate Danielle Castillo who received the silver medal. Hannah Castillo received a bronze medal for bars and beam. Aliana N-Al Mawla received gold medal on floor and silver for bars. In Level 3 we have THREE state Champions: Melanie Borrego, Jazmine Limardo and Adriana Esquivel. Nicole Avetrani received bronze medal on vault, Aja Taylor finished 3rd Place All Around in her age group and also received gold on bars and silver on floor. Annette Leal got silver medals on beam and bars, Jalen Vega silver on floor and Amanda Avetrani silver medal on bars. .Level 2 team was awarded the First Place team award in Division 2: Team Members: Hannah Castillo, Sabrina Barrabi, Jazmine Estabpe, Danielle Castillo, Aliana N Al-Mawla, Monique Figueroa and Alanis Zorrilla.Level 3 team was awarded 2nd Place in Division 2: Team Members Adriana Esquivel, Melanie Borrego, Nicole Avetrani, Aja Taylor , Jazmin Limardo, Annette Leal, Jalen Vega and Amanda Avetrani.Level 5 team was awarded 2nd Place award. Team Members: Marylin Moreno, Shailee Weiss, Tatiana Corujo and Aaliyah Lewis,Level 5 Marylin Moreno received silver medal on vault and Tatian Corujo received gold medal on bars.

Level 6 Janelle Boyd received silver medal on bars.

WE, at Universal are really proud of a GREAT SEASON for the compulsory girls. CONGRATULATIONS to all gymnasts and specially to our coaches Jeanne Barrera, Maria Gonzalez, Billy Abrehu.

Marina Gatinho and Natalie Senior: Junior Panamericans Championships


Novemeber 9th 2009 The Junior Pan American Championships, the Americas’ qualifier for the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, Aug. 10-26, in Singapore, was held in Nov. 6 in Aracaju, Brazil.  Two gymnasts from Universal Gymnastics, head coach Maria Gonzalez, qualified to compete at the Junior Pan American Championships. Marina Gatinho, representing Puerto Rico National Team and Natalie Senior in representation of Colombia National Team both qualifed and were selected by the Puerto Rico Gymnastics Federation and Colombia National Federation respectively to participate. Marina and Natalie and coaches Maria Gonzalez and Jeanne Barrera did an awesome job. GO UNIVERSAL!!

The field also included teams from Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

The Junior Pan American Championships is the continental qualifier for North, South and Central America for the Youth Olympic Games. Six women and five men, with a maximum of one spot per country, will qualify from the event for the Youth Olympics. The gymnasts competing at the Pan American Championships will be qualifying their country to compete in the 2010 Youth Olympic Games. The Junior Pan Am Championships is held every two years, with the last one held in 2007. For results please clink the link. Junior Pan American
